Melanie Smith is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture Physican, Energy Medicine Practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist and Feng Shui Consultant. Her practice Well Within Natural Medicine is located in St. Petersburg, Florida where she integrates a variety of energetic, emotional, and therapeutic bodywork techniques, as well as, homeopathy, herbs and nutritional supplements. Dr. Melanie’s work weaves Body, Mind and Spirit to help her patients fully realize a personal vision of wellness. She believes in empowering the patient through education and participation in their own healing process to awaken the healer within.

Dr. Melanie is also senior faculty for Donna Eden the author of the book Energy Medicine and facilitates a monthly Energy Medicine Study Group. She travels the country speaking and teaching on The Power of Energy Medicine and just returned from facilitating the Energy Medicine Tour to China. She is the author of the Energy Medicine for Healthy Living™ DVD/video series. With ten years as a Holistic Health Care Practitioner and 15 years of corporate business experience in the computer consulting profession, Dr. Melanie has the knowledge and ability to bring Energy Medicine into the mainstream. After a successful 15-year career in Information Technology, Melanie was guided by an injury to pursue a new path in holistic health care. In 1996 she dissolved her consulting business in Missouri and moved to Florida to pursue her education in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork at The Humanities Center School of Allied Health. Melanie became a Licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Florida and then continued her studies in the following modalities: Cranial Tri-Release Therapy, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Applied Kinesiology, BodyTalk, Reiki, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), NET (Neuro-Emotional Technique), Past Life Regression and Grid Certification.

Melanie once again returned to school full-time to pursue a 4-year Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida. After graduating top of her class in 2003 with a 4.0 gpa, she then completed her National Board Exams via NCCAOM to become a Licensed Acupuncture Physician and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine in the State of Florida. The Florida State Department of Health recognizes Acupuncture Physicians as Primary Care Physicians.

In 2002 she met Donna Eden, author of the book Energy Medicine, who quickly became her mentor. In 2003 Dr. Melanie joined Donna's teaching staff and as a senior faculty member she became an Eden Energy Medicine Certified Practitioner in 2006 and currently serves on the faculty for the new Certification Program.

Additional studies in 2002-2003 included Auricular Medicine with the world famous Dr. Li-Chun Huang, AP, MD in China and a year long study in Power Healing and Soul Study with Master Zhi Gang Sha, DOM, MD in China. Dr. Melanie's interest in Feng Shui began over a decade ago. She was deeply honored in 2003 to continue her studies as a disciple of Grandmaster Lin Yun of the Yun Lin Temple of Black Sect Tantric Buddhism in Berkeley, California

Dr. Melanie is a member of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, American Assoication of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance, Florida State Oriental Medical Association, Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, East West College Alumni Association, Pearls of Wisdom Council and the Healing Arts Alliance of Tampa Bay.
